In case you or some of your friends would like to help with this project,
here's some info from Carolyn:

It takes 2 1/2 yards of fleece x 2 to complete the blankets. I can usually
make one on sale for $15.00. I found enough fabric today on sale with
additional coupons to make 20 with the money that came in last night (I had
to add $50 myself to complete that purchase) Our goal is to make 35 as
soon as possible. We also need cash donations for postage. We'll be
notifying thru email in the next day or two when we'll have a "work day" at
Crossroads Church gymnasium to try to get as many done in two afternoons to
complete the project.

I will teach any volunteers who have the time to come in how to construct
them (once you get the hang of it you can make one in 1 1/2 hrs.) So we
still need cash to purchase enough fabric for 15 more if possible. Thanks
so much to everyone who understands the need for these new troops who've
arrived with only one blanket each. This is a remote camp high in the
mountains 75 south of Kabul, Afghanistan. There's lots of wind and snow
there now probably continuing until mid-April. They are housed in tents
with wooden sides - 36 to a tent. They can only shower every other day and
their PX doesn't get stocked often as they are remote.

We send toiletries, snacks etc. every other week for Alex to share with many
who don't get packages from home. We got a group of winter visitor ladies
to send them all knitted helmet liners to keep them as warm as possible when
they're on patrol. Our grandson is part of their striker force who
paracutes into areas where the trucks/humvees etc. have lost their ability
to communicate thru radio failure - other technical failure. They repair
the equipment, get picked up again and brought back to their camp. His
older brother Michael who's been in Iraq a couple of years ago will be
deployed to Afghanistan in August so next winter he'll be there as well.
Alex will come home here to Chandler in April on leave. If he has time I'll
have him stop in at Chorale some Tuesday evening and thank you all for your
concern and help. Thanks so much...Carolyn and Darrel

I know many of you already helped, donated, etc. Thanks to everyone.

Bruce
