Hello Chorale Friends,

Thanks to all who continue to share your talents and time to make the
Chorale an enjoyable and effective group. We've been having some great
rehearsals, and I'm feeling very encouraged by our progress on the
Christmas music. Last night we had 54 singers at rehearsal, and we've
had several new singers that will be singing with us for our Christmas
music...and maybe more :-)

With all the new singers, it's important to continue to get acquainted.
You're doing well in that category...but keep at it. Don't hesitate to
repeat your name and ask for others' names...every week until it's not
necessary. It's much easier to ask others' names when they first start,
than after they've been singing for a couple of months (or years). And
remember, if you've been around for a while, you only have to learn 6-8
new names...they have to learn 55-60 new names.

Another reminder: If you're seated by a new singer, help them as they
read new songs...show them where the repeats, 2nd endings, etc., are
located.

To help you, our new singers include:
Bil Munsil (Tenor)

Ron Steele (bass) - A coworker of mine from General Dynamics

Linda Coker (2nd soprano) -- sister of Patty and Vickie (see below)
Patty Brown (alto) - sister of Vickie and Linda
Jim and Vickie Hively (tenor/alto) Vickie is sister of Patty and Linda-
Jim and Vickie recently moved back to the valley from CO

Sandy MacKinney (alto) - Paul's sister; recently moved here from CO
(seems to be a trend)

Rachel Erickson (soprano) - has been taking voice and piano
lessons...another gung-ho musician

Nancy Russell (soprano)

It's been great to have Don, Sara and Randy Walker back with us after
dealing with some health and voice issues.

Our current Chorale Composition: 11 Basses / 10 Tenors / 16 Altos /
24 Sopranos --> Total   61

--------------------------
Next Concert: Sunday, October 25 6:00 at the Latin Nazarene Church in
downtown Chandler. We'll do part of several songs in Spanish. Feel
free to invite friends, neighbors, and family to attend. It might be an
opportunity to invite Hispanic friends/acquaintances, etc.

Quote for the day: "Nine-tenths of wisdom is appreciation. Go find
somebody's hand and squeeze it, while there's time. "-- Dale Dauten

Consider your hand squeezed,

Bruce

PS: Semi-annual September dues ($40) are being collected by Kathy. To
date, 34 singers have paid. You can make checks payable to East Valley
Chorale. Dues are used to purchase music, pay for orchestration (i.e.
the music orchestra members play), and pay for the orchestra that will
accompany our Christmas concerts.
