Good Day Chorale Friends,
I wanted to thank you for a great rehearsal this past Tuesday. It was
particularly nice because we had two new singers:
Ron Raber (baritone/tenor) came to check us out. Ron has a very nice
voice, and sang with the church choir I directed about 15 years ago...it
was great to have him singing with us this week.
Julia McAleer (alto/middle) recently moved here with her husband Dave.
(I'm hoping Dave will give us a trial run too :). Julia has a lot of
vocal experience teaching choral music in schools. Julia found the
chorale by looking online. It was great to see her at rehearsal. She
is looking for a job in the areas of either a corporate
trainer/facilitator or Vocal Music Teacher. Please join in praying that
she will find a good job. If you know of any openings or possibilities,
please let her know. Julia said that right after they moved to
Chandler, she began to see newspaper articles about hundreds of teachers
being laid off. Please lift her up in prayer.
Another of our newer singers is Nancy Russell. Nancy sings soprano, and
she volunteers at the Crisis Pregnancy Center. She was asking about
opportunities to sing in choirs at CPC and one of the other workers
mentioned that Kathy sings in the chorale. Nancy went online and tracked
us down too. So, the web site is working. Thanks to Bill Knauss and
Emi Bauer for their support.
Get to know these new singers...their great folks, and they have a lot
to offer the chorale.
Keep praying that we find a few additional basses and tenors.
Also keep praying for Al Baderman (ongoing chemo treatment for a brain
tumor), for Doc Brown's son (lymphoma), Jack Christianson's son
(cancer), and Don Walker (lymphoma). It really seems that the chorale
has had its share of medical problems lately. Please continue to pray
for God's healing, peace and strength for those involved...and their
families.
September dues ($40 in September and March) are being collected...see
Kathy. You can write checks to East Valley Chorale. Remember: dues
help us purchase our music and pay for our orchestras and their
music...but dues are not meant to be a burden when you're out of work or
struggling financially. I realize that several of our singers are out
of work or facing other financial challenges, so if you don't have the
money, please don't stop singing. Occasionally, money comes in as
scholarship to cover dues for those who cannot pay.
Thank you all for your consistent support and enthusiasm.
Have a great weekend.
Bruce
